Future Gardener presented to HRH The Duke of Sussex
Last week we were delighted to attend the Lord Mayor of London’s Big Curry Lunch at The Guildhall in London. And we were even more delighted when the four-year-old daughter of one of our former Future Gardeners was chosen to present HRH The Duke of Sussex with a bouquet of flowers.
We were invited to the annual charitable get-together by our lead Future Gardeners partner, the Worshipful Company of Gardeners, who recently called on the support of some of our students to create a pop up garden in The Guildhall’s historic courtyard.
Upon his departure and after inspecting the garden, Prince Harry knelt down to speak to Magdalena’s daughter and receive her bouquet. Magdalena completed our Future Gardeners course last year. This free 10 week programme provides participants, in particular the long term unemployed, with the core skills and practical experience they need to gain future employment in the horticultural industry.
Open to all who wish to establish a career in horticultural not matter what their experience, Future Gardeners, is delivered by Bankside Open Spaces Trust in partnership with the Worshipful Company of Gardeners and Royal Parks Guild. To find out more about the course please click here.
The Big Curry Lunch is organised by the Lord Mayor and the London Livery Companies, the Big Curry Lunch supports three National Service Charities; The Army Benevolent Funds ‘The Soldiers’ Charity, the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity and the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund.
