An act of Regret, Remembrance, Restoration

This Sunday 18 July from 12.30pm at Crossbones Graveyard and Garden of Remembrance, the Dean of Southwark, the very Revd. Andrew Nunn, will lead a special service for those buried at Crossbones.

The ’Act of Regret, Remembrance, Restoration’ expresses the church’s regret for the treatment of the ‘Winchester Geese’, the sex workers who worked in the Bankside brothels licenced by the Bishop of Winchester, many of whom are believed to be buried in the unconsecrated ground at Crossbones Graveyard.

More information can be found on the Friends of Crossbones’ website http://crossbones.org.uk/category/events/ . The Friends of Crossbones are hosting the event with the Dean.

The Dean has kindly shared the order of service, which can be downloaded here: An Act of Regret, Remembrance, Restoration.
