Memorial service at Bankside Open Spaces Festival

Bankside Open Spaces Festival, 3 June is our free street party to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and Bankside’s fantastic, resilient community.

The festival opens at 12pm with a service of Remembrance at Crossbones Graveyard to mark the fifth anniversary of the shocking attacks on London Bridge and in Borough Market. The service will pay tribute to all those affected by this act of violence in our community. Bankside Open Spaces Festival serves as a show of strength and unity, a celebration of life after a period of reflection and remembrance.

The service is being delivered by Father Christopher of the Church of the Most Precious Blood and is open to the whole community.

In 2017, our community came together weeks after the attacks for our Great Get Together Bankside to show that we are stronger together than divided and our festival holds this message at its core. Post pandemic we invite our community to come together again safely to take a stand against those who would divide us. We welcome everyone to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with this accessible, open and locally focused street party.

The service is followed by a very special performance from Britain’s Got Talent finalists, The D-Day Darlings, on our Flat Iron Main Stage, marking the start of our Platinum Jubilee celebration with music from the queen’s youth and start of her reign.
