National Lottery funding for Bankside Open Spaces Festival!
Bankside Open Spaces Trust celebrates after receiving £10,000 in National Lottery funding
Bankside Open Spaces Trust, based in London’s SE1, is celebrating today after being awarded £10,000 in funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest funder of community activity in the UK.
The Trust will use their funding to help local people celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with a huge street party on 3 June 2022 – it's all free and everyone’s invited! Bankside Open Spaces Festival will take over three award-winning parks, managed by Bankside Open Spaces Trust, and surrounding streets. From 12-9pm, visitors can expect live music, dance, kids’ sport and craft, delicious food, a dog show and much, much more!
This new National Lottery funding will ensure Bankside Open Spaces Trust’s family-focused festival remains free and accessible to all – ensuring thousands of local people can make the most of the Bank Holiday gifted to them as part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. The Trust expects over 9000 people to enjoy their festival – many visitors will be those without their own gardens or the resources to travel to, or throw, a Jubilee party of their own. The Trust is delighted that this funding will make sure everyone in SE1 can enjoy a right royal knees-up on 3 June 2022!
National Lottery players raise over £30 million a week for good causes across the UK. The National Lottery Community Fund distributes a share of this to projects to support people and communities to prosper and thrive.
Festival Organiser and Chair of Bankside Open Spaces Trust, Tim Wood, said: “Thanks to National Lottery players, this grant means our Bankside Open Spaces Festival is back with a bang for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.A real boost to the community after a tough few years.”
During the pandemic, in 2020 alone, The National Lottery Community Fund distributed almost £1 billion to charities and community organisations across the UK.
