Tate Modern Community Garden
During the conception of Tate Modern it was decided that an area of land should be set aside for a community garden so that local people could enjoy peace and quiet in what would become an area of intense tourism.
We planted fruit trees and built a pond, flower beds, herb garden and labyrinth to create a beautiful haven for wildlife and people. The garden opened on 20 June 2006 and is maintained through regular volunteering groups. We also welcome the community and visitors to events throughout the year.
The garden is a partnership project with Tate Modern and is open to all local Southwark residents who live within walking distance of the gallery. To join email community@tate.org.uk or call 020 7401 5176.
