Santander employees dig community gardening!

Last week an enthusiastic team of employees from Santander spent the day helping out at Rockingham Allotments - a vibrant and impressive community garden, that’s also one of our Green Champions sites.

The garden is actively managed by residents of Rockingham estate but due to its size helping hands are always welcome for bigger tasks. The Santander volunteers worked on clearing several raised beds for winter, topped them up with new soil, turned over the compost bins and cut back and raked the garden’s wildflower meadow. They were rewarded with a beautiful sunny day and a feeling of satisfaction from a job well done.

Several residents came out too to meet the team and get stuck in with the gardening. As one of the Santander volunteers said, “It was really nice to be out helping in the garden and speaking with some of the residents to hear what the allotments mean to them.”
