Thank you to our ‘Great Get Together Bankside’ supporters

A massive thank you to all our supporters of The Great Get Together Bankside.  Our street party which took place on Sunday 23 June, was part of the national campaign organised by The Jo Cox Foundation. We welcomed people that live, work and visit Bankside to get together and celebrate all that we have in common.

This year was our third consecutive year of hosting the event and it was our largest yet, working with 55 different supporters and audience of 12,000 people.

We ran our annual bake-off competition where competitors showcased their culinary creativity and Bankside bakery skills. We were joined by Kate Reece of Bread Ahead Bakery as well as local legend and Olympic medallist, Tom Daley, who helped to present prizes at the competition.

The ‘Bark-Off’ dog show recognised dogs of all shapes and sizes with prizes kindly donated by our supporters. We were joined by Peter Murray, Director of New London Architecture and Anna Webb of LBC Radio as our guest judges. The category winners then went through to the 'Best in Bankside' champion of champions final where the selected winner headed home with a bumper haul of dog treats. Funds raised from the event were donated to the charity, All Dogs Matter.

Five stages entertained crowds with live music from community groups and a range of bands, headlined by the fantastic Alabama 3. There were performances from SuperGlad Music acts as well as DJ sets and soundstages from Corsica Studios and Louie Louie. Throughout the evening, people enjoyed comedy performances from Country Mile Comedy Club as well as an amazing cabaret performance from Club Glitorus in OMEARA.

Bringing the festival atmosphere to the streets of Bankside were the of Castellers of London, South London Samba, Sambatallion, Mandinga Arts and Street Orchestra Live, who performed some great renditions of some Bankside favourites. The festival was packed full of activities for kids such as a visit from Surrey Docks Farm and the legendary Wacky Races.

None of this would’ve been possible without our supporters, who have supported us throughout this whole campaign.
