Our response to covid-19

In response to the deepening coronavirus situation, Bankside Open Spaces Trust has made the tough decision to suspend our volunteering groups until further notice and to shut Crossbones Garden, Tate Community Garden and Marlborough Sports Garden. We are postponing all our upcoming events. This includes our Green Hub gardening workshops, our Easter Playscheme at Living Space, our Future Gardeners Graduation and Easter events at Tate and Red Cross Gardens.

Living Space community centre is also closed for bookings and activities.

While maintaining open spaces is a priority, we put our community at the heart of everything we do. As many Bankside Open Spaces Trust volunteers are particularly vulnerable to this virus, we really want to help them stay safe and healthy. This is why we’re asking them to stay at home for the next few weeks. Our staff will be keeping in regular contact because we know how valuable the social side of volunteering is.

Crossbones Garden can only open with the help of our team of dedicated wardens, who are also supported by our staff based at Red Cross Garden. Following the most recent government advice, we feel the right decision is to protect our wardens by keeping the garden shut for a while.

As we all try to avoid ‘non-essential travel’ and social contact with others, we have also invited our staff to work from home. You can contact our team via info@bost.org.uk

Red Cross Garden and Waterloo Green will remain open and will be checked daily. We are following advice from our local councils and therefore this situation may change.

You can keep up to date with the latest covid-19 advice here.
