Summer of sport at Marlborough Sports Garden
Over the summer holidays Marlborough Sports Garden is hosting activities for 4-19 year olds. Working in partnership with Sport and Life Skills, Regans Soccer School and Southwark Council’s Summer of Food and Fun, we’ve got a sporting calendar to match the Olympics!
Regans Soccer School’s multisports summer camp fills weekdays with fun and games for 4-11year olds. With funding from London Marathon Charitable Trust (lmct.org.uk) we’ve been able to offer 40 free places to low income families from SE1. And as part of our vision to help local young people eat well, exercise more and establish healthy habits for life, we’re providing free lunches for those participating too.
In the afternoons, Sports and Life Skills are running free, one-hour multi-sports activities for different age groups. So far groups have tackled archery, basketball, hockey and football.
As part of Southwark Council’s Summer of Food and Fun the Marlborough is hosting beach volleyball and netball sessions for 12-16 year olds. Anyone taking part also gets a ‘Take and Make’ food box to encourage young people to cook at home. Week one has kicked off with ingredients to make Smokey Fajitas – yum!
All of the summer sport activities are fully booked now – we’re delighted so many children and young people have space to play, be active and have fun this summer.
