Prestigious Green Flags for our parks!

Red Cross Garden, Waterloo Green and Tate Modern Community Garden awarded coveted Green Flag Awards as they are officially recognised as some of the country’s best parks

In a record-breaking year, our parks are once again raising their prestigious Green Flag Awards. We also contributed to the Green Flag Award retained by Southwark Council’s Mint Street Park.

Bankside Open Spaces Trust is celebrating after retaining our Green Flag Awards for Red Cross Garden, Waterloo Green, Tate Modern Community Garden and, in collaboration with Southwark Council, Mint Street Park.

The news that our sites have retained this prestigious accreditation - the international quality mark for parks and green spaces - is testament to the hard work and dedication of our parks team and our wonderful community and corporate volunteers.

Keep Britain Tidy’s Green Flag Award Scheme Manager Paul Todd MBE said: “I would like to congratulate everyone at Bankside Open Spaces Trust for retaining their Green Flag Awards.

“These sites are vital green spaces for the community in London’s SE1, bringing people together and providing opportunities to lead healthy lifestyles. The staff and volunteers do so much to ensure these spaces maintain the high standards of the Green Flag Award and everyone involved should feel extremely proud of their achievement.”

The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy under licence from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management of green spaces across the United Kingdom and around the world.
