Future Gardeners, our Level 1 Horticultural Training Programme, were delighted to welcome Mark Gregory, Managing Director of Landform and one of the UK’s most respected garden designers, for a special guest lecture this week.
The session began with an unexpected light hearted moment, as a dog wandered through the group photo, setting a relaxed and welcoming tone for an otherwise deeply insightful talk.
Mark Gregory, widely known as “The King of Chelsea,” drew on decades of experience designing and building hundreds of RHS Chelsea Flower Show gardens. He spoke to participants about creative practice, professional resilience and the realities of sustaining a long term career in horticulture.

The lecture was arranged to raise awareness and funds for Perennial, the UK’s benevolent fund for people working in horticulture. Perennial provides vital support including wellbeing services, financial assistance and career guidance across the sector.

This event forms part of Bankside Open Spaces Trust’s Future Gardeners training programme, and this lecture was held at our community centre Living Space, and reflects our commitment to inclusive access, professional pathways and meaningful industry partnerships.
