Bankside Open Spaces Trust is recruiting a Sports Manager to lead the day-to-day delivery of sport and activity at Marlborough Sports Garden in SE1.
The garden is a vital outdoor sports space in a densely populated part of London where access to safe, high-quality facilities is limited. It supports school sports days, after-school coaching, community sessions, events and commercial hire, all contributing to physical health, confidence and social connection.
The Sports Manager role brings together programme management, operational oversight and partnership working. Responsibilities include managing sports sessions and events, handling bookings and customer enquiries, overseeing health and safety and safeguarding, maintaining facilities and equipment, and supporting volunteers and income generation. The role works closely with the Head of Sport and Development to ensure the site operates safely, sustainably and inclusively.
We are looking for someone with experience managing sports programmes or facilities, strong organisational and communication skills, and a genuine commitment to equality and inclusive participation. The ability to work outdoors in all weather, respond calmly to operational challenges, and build positive relationships with a wide range of users is essential.
This is an opportunity to take real responsibility for a well-used community sports space and to contribute to long-term wellbeing outcomes in SE1.
